Earlier this summer, Drew and I passed through Zion National Park on our way back to Vegas following our time in Bryce Canyon and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. As you may remember, we spent a weekend hiking Angels Landing and the Narrows a few summers ago. However, we loved Zion so much that we couldn’t resist driving through the park and doing a small hike while we were so close.
For our quick hike, we decided to give the Canyon Overlook Trail a shot. This 1 mile round trip hike is easy, but really delivers in terms of adventure and sights. The trail starts by going up some steps and curving around the rim of a canyon before crossing a bridge into a small cave. Eventually you’ll make your way to an amazing overlook of Zion Canyon.
This short but sweet hike is a must for first-timers at Zion, or for those looking for an incredible view and photos of Zion Canyon’s steep red rocks and contrasting greenery.
